Last week the local police dept. did a sting at a local bike night. They wanted to target the sport bike community. Well, their common sense was no where to be found. They came to a bike night where there is about 2,500 bikes on a Wednesday night. They hammered everyone and anyone for whatever they could think of and dream up.

Some of the citations they handed out were earned, others were way out of line and no reason to cite these folks.

The credability and respect that this local police dept. once had with the bike community has gone down the tubes. They could have handled this so much better, but they had to be miserable about this.

I did not receive a citation, but know several folks who did. I wonder where their head was at the time they dreamed up this sting. I'm not to sure the sun shines where their head was.

If you are doing something wrong and you get a citation, then you earned it and the police did their job. But some times they do not use common sense.

That's sad, I think many PD's are allowed to run amuck. Last time I was at Daytona I was followed around by the police as I handed out flyers for the race track, I was told my shorts might be too short, I could be cited... go figure. As a entertainer I travel the country to perform. Many local laws require me to go down to the local PD to register and purchase a license to perform. I am always required to be fingerprinted and mug shot like a criminal. I am often told this is for my protection??? Anything for a buck I guess.

It's just like pulling people over for blue lights and telling them they could book them for impersonating an officer. I know our cops don't get paid much, so it seems as though some of them do it primarily for the power trip.

Don't you hate it when people in authority take it a step too far? Maybe they needed more money in their policemen's fund!
